I’m JD —

The Rope Dude.

With over two decades of experience working and teaching at height, I’ve built my career around developing safe, effective, and practical solutions for people who work in challenging environments. My background spans recreational climbing, fall protection, and tower work, leading to my current focus: helping rope access technicians strengthen real-world skills that keep them safe and competent on the job.

Over the past decade, I’ve designed and delivered comprehensive training programs that make complex technical skills accessible and applicable in the field. Through these programs, I’ve supported thousands of candidates in achieving rope access certification while building the physical capability and confidence required for demanding work at height.

As an IRATA Assessor and Instructor with extensive field experience across North America — from bridges and wind farms to oil and gas sites — I bring a practical, hands-on approach to every assessment and training environment.

My philosophy is simple: keep it practical, keep it safe, and make it last. Whether providing IRATA assessments, training consultation, or PPE inspections, I focus on what works where it matters most — in the field.
